Strength of Materials Lab
1. Strength of Materials Lab
The laboratory has facilities for conducting practical classes for undergraduate programs. The students are being encouraged to take up topics in the field of Structural Engineering for their project work by making use of facilities available in the laboratory.
Various equipment available in the lab are:
A uni-axial horizontal Shake Table with maximum acceleration of 2.0 g and maximum load carrying capacity of 60 kg has been installed recently. NI Data Acquisition system, high sensitivity accelerometers and modally tuned impact hammer are the additional features.
2. Geotechnical Engineering Lab:
The laboratory has facilities for conducting practical classes for undergraduate programs, post graduate programmes and for doing various consultancy works in the field of Soil Mechanics. The undergraduate students are being encouraged to take up topics in the field of Geotechnical Engineering for their project work by making use of facilities available in the laboratory.
Various equipment available in the lab are:
3. Transportation Engineering Lab
The Transportation Engineering Laboratory is equipped with facilities for testing of aggregates, bitumen and soil. The Laboratory is fully equipped for conduct of regular experiments at UG level and consultancy works.
Various equipment available in the lab are:
4. Concrete Lab
The Concrete Lab is equipped with the following equipments which is extensively used for the laboratory practical classes as well as for the testing and Consultancy works.
5. Environmental Engineering Lab
This lab is mainly intended for qualitative and quantitative analysis of the characteristics of water and wastewater.
Various equipment available in the lab are:
6. Survey Lab
The lab has a collection of the following equipments which are provided for the practical sessions for UG students. Students perform the Survey camp for getting a practical exposure of field survey using the Total Station.
7. Computer Aided Civil Engineering (CACE) Lab
The lab provides the facility for preparing structural drawings of building components using AutoCAD, analysing structures using structural analysis software, interpreting survey data obtained from total station etc. Training programmes for students on different softwares are also conducted in the lab.
Software available in the lab are:
8. Project Lab
A civil engineering project lab is a practical, resource-rich environment within an educational institution designed for students to execute their final and mini-projectsin a particular area of civil engineering. Project lab facility is a space for students to work on their projects, including discussions, and development. The department is having a project laboratory which is functioning under the regular laboratories.Several successful projects have been carried out by students in this lab.Experimental studies help the students prepare for the real-world applications. Project Laboratory enables students to obtain hands-on experience helping students develop both the physical and creative skills and to realize their project ideas as executable projects.
Hands-on Experience
Students gain practical experience with physical materials, instruments, and testing equipment.
Innovative Idea Execution
It serves as a space for students to implement their innovative ideas and execute their final projects.
Teamwork & Collaboration
The lab is a meeting location for students to work on team-based projects.
B) Civil Engineering Workshop
Various equipment available in the lab include:
C) Department Library Facility:
There is a collection of about 250 text books and Seminar and Project Reports of students specifically provided to the Civil Engineering Department students. The students can lend books from the library on semester basis.
