Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Government Engineering College, Barton
Hill, Kerala, serves as a pivotal body for planning, guiding, and monitoring quality assurance
and enhancement activities within the institution. Established in accordance with the
guidelines of the A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University, the IQAC aims to develop
a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of
the college.
The primary objective of the IQAC is to institutionalize quality culture and embed best
practices across all academic and administrative processes. It plays a proactive role in
initiating strategies for academic excellence, promoting innovative teaching-learning
methods, ensuring effective curriculum delivery, and facilitating faculty development.
For proper functioning of the academic system in an educational institution and to quantify
the efforts dispensed by the faculty and students, some assessment components have been
designed. These include the assessment of course delivery as per the curriculum and syllabus
of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (APJAKTU), the co-curricular and extra-
curricular activities of students, overall discipline and the academic functioning of the
Institution, delivery of the duties and responsibilities of faculty members, monitoring of the
progress of courses, internal assessments, student welfare and grievances.
The process of academic auditing intends to monitor and enhance the quality of technical
education through proper guidelines for both teaching faculty and students, so as to ensure
qualified engineers/researchers are passing out from Institutions, affiliated to APJAKTU.
