Technology Business Incubator - Government Engineering College Barton Hill (TBI-GECBH) was established in the year 2014 to provide a platform for budding entrepreneurs who wish to launch themselves into the world of technology-based business startups. The TBI-GECBH provides a platform for developing innovative and promising ideas into products or services business with the help of technology. This centre is designed to provide the support to business ventures of the students of GECBH as well as others.
OBJECTIVES OF TBI-GECBH- To provide the infrastructure and environment required for starting technology business ventures through research, design, development, and training activities.
- To encourage student entrepreneurship.
- To accelerate the upgradation of research and development facilities available in the college to make them capable of carrying out leading edge research in technology.
- To create employment / revenue generation / export possibilities through development of new technology-oriented products and services.
Facilities and Support at TBI–GECBH
Government Engineering College Barton Hill has established a dedicated space for its
Technology Business Incubator (TBI), comprising five fully furnished cubicles and a
common area. This facility will be further expanded as additional space becomes
available on campus. TBI–GECBH provides each incubatee with a furnished cabin
equipped with essential amenities such as electricity, internet connectivity, tables, and
chairs. College facilities, including laboratories, workshops, and the library (for
reference), can also be accessed with prior permission from the Principal on the
recommendation of the TBI Coordinator. Usage charges for these facilities will be
applicable as determined by the respective departments.
Incubatees may consult faculty members and technical staff for guidance and support in
technical and business development activities, subject to their availability and
willingness. TBI–GECBH extends assistance to incubatees in availing various
government and private sector support schemes and helps them connect with consultants
in finance, accounting, marketing, technology, quality, legal, human resources, and
training. The incubator regularly organizes workshops, training programs, and seminars
on entrepreneurship and innovation based on demand. In addition, it provides procedural
guidance for applying for patents, trademarks, and design registrations. Incubatees are
also encouraged to apply for relevant MSME schemes through which they may receive
financial assistance via TBI–GECBH.
